Your engagement ring and wedding band are symbols of undying love. However, as long as we want them to last “till death do us part”, with daily wearing wedding bands and gem stomes may overtime be scratched, worn out or fade off. It is thus importance to maintain the aesthetics of your ring to ensure that they are always hygienic and shining. Here are a few simple tips on preserving the bling of your rings that we have for your bridal jewelleries to look as good as new all the time!
For All Jewelleries
Always remember to remove our rings before you shower, apply cosmetics, when you are doing house cleaning or rigorous activities such as sports. Harsh cleaning chemicals and excess body sweat may loosen mountings. Additionally, avoid always hitting your jewellery against hard surfaces. When not wearing your jewellery, try to keep it separated with other jewelleries. This prevents scratching and other damage.
The Homemade “Solution”
Diamonds, Rubies and Sapphires are gemstones normally found on engagement rings and wedding bands. These stones can be easily cleaned using a homemade cleaning solution made with one part ammonia to six parts water. Soak the ring in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes before gently cleaning them with a soft toothbrush or cloth. When cleaning these gemstones, be careful not to scratch the metal setting, and always rinse afterwards.
The same soft toothbrush and ammonia solution can also be used to clean the gold or platinum parts of your jewellery too. Just be sure that the brush you are using is soft to avoid scratches on the metal. Remember to rinse after cleaning and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Hold It By The Band
Last but not least, remember to always hold your rings by the band instead of the diamonds or gemstones to ensure that the setting will be secured for a longer time. It will avoid debris and natural oils from our skin from building up on the mounting of the rings.
